SM Sung Siew, Sandakan : 16th – 17th August 2008
On the 16th – 17th August 2008 a group of students from SM Sung Siew came to Lankayan Island
to participate in Reef Guardian’s Marine Education Program. They were accompanied by 2
teachers, Mrs Grace & Mr Loh. The group comprise of Form 6 students and members of SM Sung
Siew Nature Club. The group was lucky enough to have been able to observe baby Green turtle
being released at the Sunset Bar. They also managed to see a Hawksbill turtle nesting underneath
one of the chalet in the early morning of their departure. Teacher Grace helped Reef Guardian
staff to dig the nest and retrieve the eggs. We had lots of fun showing the beauty of marine life to
the students and teachers. We do feel that the students understood the message that we tried to
convey, which is marine conservation. We look forward to the SM Sung Siew’s Nature Day which
will be held on the 27th August 2008.
