| Marine Education Program - Sung Siew School 3-5 June 2009 |
About 35 students and teachers from Sung Siew School, Sandakan were here from 3-5 June 2009. Students
were lead by Ms. Lat and Ms. Grace and majority are from Green or Been and Nature Club member .
This year students were lucky to be able to met Reef Check Malaysia General Manager Mr. Julian Hyde
and Ms Helen Brunt from Marine Conservation Society. The two days program was full of activities from
snorkeling lesson, Reef Check lesson, talk on Reef Check and coral reef, sand building and students
performance competitions.
No doubt it was fun and resourceful program. Many of the students were first time snorkeling and never
see colourful fishes before beside in the aquarium. The Reef Check lesson on the beach was something
new for the students. The lesson gave an idea to the students about how marine biologist in the world are
actually survey the reef health using standard method such as Reef Check.
