Reef Guardian formed enforcement team in 2004 to carries out sea patrol to control the intrusion of fishing vessels within SIMCA. Sea patrols implemented both during day and night times with supported by a land based team that monitor boats traffic within SIMCA using a radar tracking system.
Sea patrol has been done as ah hoc basic when the radar detected high volume of fishing vessels within SIMCA. Currently Reef Guardian enforcement team consists of seven trained and certified Honorary Wildlife inspect Wardens to stop and carries out check, search or inspect fishing vessels that found within SIMCA boundaries. Every stop fishing vessel will be briefed about SIMCA boundaries and given a notice with details of SIMCA’s objectives and regulations. In practice second repeat offender willbe warned, the vessel’s owner will be contacted by phone call and the warning will be issues in writing. For the third times repeat offender, fishing vessel will be detained with assistance from the Police Field Force (PGA) or Marine Police. Illegal fishing method such as dynamite and sodium cyanide fishing boats will be prosecuted with assistant from Marine Police Department Sandakan, Police Field Force (PGA), Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency and Sabah Wildlife Department.

SIMCA Enforcement Objectives
The objectives of the SIMCA enforcement are to:
1. Ban on the illegal fishing activities such as dynamite fishing, sodium cyanide and compressor fishing within SIMCA region that often cause habitat (coral reef) destruction.
2. Stop and control fish trawling within SIMCA that often dragging sea bottom, sea grass bed and drowning marine turtle in their fishing net.
