Crown-of-thorn starfish monitoring
A crown-of-thorns starfish (COTS) removal program is
undertaken monthly, and the population and size composition are
being closely monitored.
The first outbreak was first observed in 2005 at the North of
Lankayan Island. Reef Guardian's marine team implement
physical removed COTS from the reefs since 2005. Over
three year physically removed of COTS had been
significantly reduced the entire population of this starfish in
the reef.
