Honorary Wildlife Warden Training, 25-28th April 2008
Reef Guardian (RG) and Sabah Wildlife Department recently organizes an Honorary Wildlife
Warden Training workshop on Lankayan Island. Besides participation from RG, we had
participation from WWF, Banggi Island community members and commercial fishers from Kudat
and Sandakan.
Training included the process of stopping fishing boat/vessel, inspect, searching, reporting and
filling a report. Participant were trained in identifying activities that against Wildlife Conservation
Enactment 1997, and familiar with endangered species & CITES lists. Training was three day, two
days classroom, one day practical and assessment.
We are soon adding another 6 trained and certified Wildlife Wardens to our enforcement team
adding up to a total of 10 Wildlife Wardens!
